It was an updated version of walt disney s enchanted tiki room which was previously known in the florida park as tropical serenade that featured the bird characters iago and zazu from the respective walt disney animation studios franchises aladdin and the lion king. The show though similar included some new songs and effects but much of the original attraction s features. Under new management opened to mixed reviews in april of 1998. The enchanted tiki room under new management was an alternate version of walt disney s enchanted tiki room in walt disney world s magic kingdom.

The new story line called for the show to be taken over by iago of the lion king and zazu of aladdin and thus be under new management. Throughout its run the attraction was almost universally despised and was the object of scorn from disney fans and guests alike and was seen as an allegory for the management of michael eisner and how he viewed customers. It opened on may 1 1998 and was hosted by iago and zazu from the films. The enchanted tiki room under new management uh oa tiki goddess of disaster functions as a representative of the tiki room s displeasure with iago s plans to change the tiki room and his general disbelief in the tiki room s magic and relevance.
