From thatched roofing comprised of palm leaf thatch to authentic bamboo poles for building a thatched roof to bamboo slats for walls and bar trimming and palapa thatch umbrellas for overhead. Leave no gaps between the slats for a neat result. Measure and cut the three pieces for each of three sections of the bar for a total of nine two outer and one middle support for each. This step can be done at any point in the build however this is when i chose to do it. A straight tiki hut roof won t be as difficult as a hip roof or a framed roof. Do not cut corners with the roof as it can make or break the appearance of the bar. Fitting the roof attach 1 6 slats to the roof of the tiki bar.

Start with the vertical inner walls of the bar using the pressure treated plywood. Make sure you use cedar or other weather resistant materials for the project as the tiki bar will be exposed to the elements. Make sure it has good pitch for water drainage and no less than a 10 degree angle. Determine if you want to have an original flat look or a traditional home style look when completed.

I purchased a 20 foot roll of thatch for 100 from a specialty bamboo store that was a 30 minute drive from my house.
